Creativity and Cultural Forum
Oldham Creativity and Cultural Forum is a meeting place for creative people to gain advice and network with other professionals working in the creative industries. Local artists and makers, voluntary and community sector workers and individuals with an interest and passion to work creatively in their local community are all welcome.
The forum is the ideal place to find out more information about opportunities, funding and events.

Artist Call Out Oldham Reindeer Parade 2022
We would like to hear from artists and makers with experience in creating large scale, non-vehicular, parade / carnival structures. We are looking for design ideas for 3 x parade structures that will showcase in Oldham’s Reindeer Parade Saturday 26th November 2022.
Oldham’s annual Reindeer Parade celebrates the festive season with the arrival of Santa and his eight reindeer to the town centre. One of three main winter events, this Christmas carnival attracts audiences of up to 10,000. The parade consists of music, dancing, street theatre performers and over 200 community participants.
Please send an expression of interest in designing and making a parade / carnival structure for Oldham Reindeer Parade that responds to the theme, ‘The North Pole / Santa’s Workshop’.
Design ideas can, but not exclusively, be based upon on the following:
- The North Pole
- The North Star
- Santa’s grotto
- Arctic animals
- Snow / ice
Design ideas should include materials that are or can be reused / recycled.
The structure needs to be a minimum of 3 metres in height, to be paraded for approximately 30 minutes and displayed within a high street setting for approximately 3 hours.
We are looking for work that entertains and engages a diverse audience – something which might appeal (and be suitable) to both adults and families.
How It Works
We want you to tell us about:
- You and your experience.
- Your designs / ideas.
- Images / design of make.
- Outline any additional support you would need.
The call out is open to artists based in Greater Manchester over the age of 18.
A maximum of 3 artists will be selected. Successful applicants will receive payment of £1,600 that will cover time and materials. 2 x payments will be made – on signature of artist agreement and following the event.

Applicants will be informed on the outcome of their submission by Wednesday 21st September.
